The Sisters
of Providence

We form a Catholic religious congregation of women. Our mission is to meet the needs of the poor, sick and marginalized by proclaiming the love of our Provident God and the compassion of Our Mother of Sorrows. Founded in 1843, by Emilie Tavernier Gamelin in Montreal, Canada, our community is present and active in several countries. We serve in the fields of health, education and social services, as well as in the promotion of social and environmental justice.
