Remembrance Day

In these troubled times that we are living, it is important to highlight the vocation for peace of our Congregation and of our foundress, Blessed Emilie Gamelin. In fact, the hymn that still to this day is recited by the Providence Family at the end of each meeting dates back to the Second World War. Initially proposed as a prayer for world peace, it was first documented in the Petit Journal of Providence (Little Journal of Providence) in 1942:

Recourse to Providence.—Until the end of the war, at the express request of our Mother General, Mother Praxedes of Providence, we will recite the following invocations to Providence after the noon and evening Rosaries: Providence of God, I believe in you; Providence of God, I hope in you; Providence of God, I love you with all my heart: Providence of God, I thank you for all. We hope that these invocations, repeated with fervent confidence in all our religious homes by hundreds of Sisters of Providence, will not fail to touch the hearth of our Heavenly Father who will draw his abundant grace of protection, salvation, and peace to our dear Community and to the whole universe. The more we repeat these beautiful invocations with faith and love, the more we will feel a deep sentiment of security, knowing that we are in the hands of the divine Providence, who watches over us attentively. Under her great loving protection, everything that happens to us can only be for the glory of God and our greater benefit.

Today, in the different Providence countries around the world, The Providence Family continues with the tradition of hoping for the end of armed conflicts in our era, praying with these words.
