Feast of St. Elizabeth of Hungary

Since the very beginnings of the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence, Elizabeth of Hungary, saint and queen devoted to the poor of her time, was considered patroness of the Ladies of Charity and of all our charitable works. Today, she is the patroness of the Providence Associates, as stated in the special liturgical calendar of the Congregation, approved by Rome.

Before the Second Vatican Council, her feast was celebrated on November 19.  A traditional acceptance of postulants took place on 17 November, and a religious profession was held each year on 19 November.

Happy anniversary to all the Sisters of Providence who have taken their vows on November 19th.

May Saint Elizabeth watch over the Congregation, all our ongoing projects as well as the advancement of the Cause for the Canonization of our Blessed Emilie Gamelin.
