Let us celebrate Children’s Rights

On November 20 we celebrate Universal Children’s Day, established to defend children’s human rights recognized under the UNICEF Convention on the Rights of the Child, including the right to freedom of thought and religion, and the right to live free of violence, among others.

To mark the date, we would like to recall a childhood story of our foundress Emilie Gamelin:

Little Emilie was sensitive to the poverty of neighbors and other people in need. One day she pointed out to her mother a beggar who had nothing to eat. Her mother said: “We will give him part of our meal.” “He needs more than that,” replied Emilie, “I am going to give him all the fruit I picked up today because I want his bag to be filled with good things.” *
