Together for the Earth: Legacy and Mission

Let us maintain our commitment to protect our “common home” and embody Providence values with unwavering determination.

On this coming April 22, 2024, which commemorates the World Earth Day, we are called to celebrate the magnificence of our planet while embracing our sacred duty to protect and preserve it. We are the attentive keepers of a natural treasure, the devoted protectors of its splendor and its inhabitants, whether humans, animals, or vegetables.

Amidst the echoes of our steps and daily activities, the inspiring teachings of our dear Blessed Emilie Gamelin keeps resonating. A woman of dedication, her tireless spirit and love for the most vulnerable paved a bright path for future generations. Today, we follow in her footsteps with determination, mindful of our common mission as stewards of the Earth.

The Earth, this precious gift entrusted to us, is much more than just a home. It feeds us, shelters us, and enchants us with its infinite beauty. Yet it is also fragile and suffers from the consequences of our neglect and overexploitation. This is why, as custodians of this precious creation, it is our duty to protect and preserve it. In fact, the preservation of our environment is not only a duty, but an act of faith in our Creator and a witness of love towards future generations.

The sacred words of Genesis resonate deeply with our mission today: “And the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” (Genesis 2:15) We are the gardeners of this blessed land, the ones called to cultivate it with love and protect it with devotion. Such is our legacy and our call to be vigilant stewards of this sacred land.

However, our mission does not end here. As we look to the future, driven by the flame of Providence we are called to be agents of change, to defend the rights of the Earth and to promote sustainable living. In this way, we truly embody the Providence values.

Together, we have the power to make a difference. Through our daily actions, big and small, we can build together a future where the Earth is respected, every living being is valued, and justice prevails.

May this World Earth Day be a wake-up call for our souls, a call to action rooted in the legacy of our beloved foundress. May we be enlivened by the flame of her love and guided by her wisdom, as we passionately pursue this noble Providence Mission for the Earth and for generations to come.
