Perpetual vows of Sister Jude Merline Bernard, SP
In pronouncing my perpetual vows in the community, I believe that Jesus Himself is calling me to a constant renewal of heart and mind. I am fully aware that my religious consecration is a sign that the riches of my baptism are blossoming and inspiring me to grow unceasingly in faith, hope and love.
The Lord did wonders for me, holy is his name. Luke 1:49.

By allowing myself to be impregnated and touched by the love of Christ, I have the feeling that I have always nourished this inner desire to consecrate my life to God. In my family, the Christian faith occupies the first place. Sunday Mass is a moment of renewal that orients my whole daily life. No great speeches about God, but a deep conviction that God precedes us, accompanies us, and that He is counting on us to work for a more united and just world. The beauty of creation, as well as music, open horizons for me, especially that of prayer.
Today, I thank God for His constant care and for all the blessings He lavishes on me day after day. He has called me not because I am worth more than others, but out of love and pure grace. In His mercy, He wanted me to be close to him and serve him through my brothers and sisters, according to the charism and spirituality of the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence.
In answering “yes” to the Lord, an answer that is not always easy to give, I feel profoundly called to follow Christ, living the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience in the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence.
As a great mind said: “Religious life is not a goal to be reached, but a path to be travelled”. It is a desire to walk every day in the footsteps of Christ. It is also the commitment to love Him and to make Him loved, especially through the service of the most vulnerable and the pastoral care of young people.
Following Jesus is an adventure full of surprises. I am learning to let Christ guide my life, to trust Him, and to see people and events through His eyes. May the Lord achieve in me all He has begun. Providence of God, I believe in You!
